University of Calgary - Advanced Contract Award Notice / Notice of Proposed Procurement - Particle Sizing Analyzer

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the Mastersizer 3000+ Ultra Particle Size Analyzer with HydroEV liquid + Optional AeroS dry dispersion accessories from Malvern Panalytical. The Mastersizer 3000+ Ultra uses the technique of laser diffraction to measure the particle size and particle size distribution of materials. This model measures the widest size range (0.01 – 3500 um) and supports automation. The UCalgary Engineering Department has experience and has created a large amount of data with the Mastersizer 2000 and requires upgrading to the Mastersizer 3000+ Ultra Particle Size Analyzer. The new software allows importation of historic data and data manipulation of older databases into the new advanced instrument software, ensuring consistency of testing and results while minimizing the learning curve for adopting the new system. This is critical to maintaining and moving forward with a large historical dataset. It is the department’s understanding that Mastersizer 3000+ Ultra is the only system that can meet their research needs.
