Full description

The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the E8257D analog signal generator with a standard adapter set, 2.4mm F-F and 2.4mm F - 2.9mm F with 3 year extended warranty from Keysight Technologies Canada Inc.
It is critical to purchase this Keysight system as the research lab is involved with two large experiments: Antihydrogen Laser Physics Apparatus (ALPHA) at CERN in Switzerland and Hydrogen Antihydrogen Infrastructure at Canadian Universities (HAICU) at TRIUMF in Vancouver. These collaborating research labs utilize this identical instrument to conduct detailed and precise microwave spectroscopy of hydrogen/antihydrogen atoms as well as magnetometry. The research team developed custom software to control these signal generators and integrated them into ALPHA’s data analysis software.

It is a mandatory requirement for the new system to be compatible with existing hardware and custom software for the planned research involving the development, testing, and implementation of new technologies and techniques for ALPHA and HAICU.
