The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the M9 Portable Ultrasound System with software and transducers from BOMImed Inc. The UCalgary Faculty of Kinesiology research group has developed the contrast enhanced ultrasound technique to be used on respiratory muscles. This requires an ultrasound that is able to detect contrast agents. Additionally, the unit is required to be portable (laptop sized) as work is required to be done in a lab setting, but also field based. This requires frequent transportation on planes and the ability to carry the ultrasound to field stations by a person. To the research group’s knowledge, M9 Portable Ultrasound System is the only system capable of meeting all their requirements.
