The University of Calgary (UCalgary) plans to purchase the GridION portable sequencing system with flow cells and sample preparation reagents and kits from Oxford Nanopore Technologies. This system will be used for whole genome/exomes sequencing, metagenomics, gene expression, and large numbers of samples.
To the research team’s knowledge, Oxford Nanopore Technologies is the only commercially available compact, portable sequencing technology with patented technology that meets the technical and size requirements outlined in ACAN required for the research.
