The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the BioDent Reference Point Indentation system, including Ex-Vivo Bone Stage, Digital Visualization System, Consumables, Remote Training & Installation, with Annual Standard Service Plan from Active Life Scientific, Inc. The UCalgary research team requires the system to support their research program, which aims to investigate how type 1 diabetes (T1D) and obesity affect bone health during childhood and adolescence, a critical period for skeletal development. Active Life Scientific is the only manufacturer and provider of the BioDent System and the only vendor that has commercialized analogous cyclic or impact-based reference point indentation (RPI) systems for bone. The BioDent system is protected by a portfolio of patents covering its proprietary Reference Point Indentation (RPI) technology. Active Life Scientific holds the exclusive rights to these patents. It is the research team’s understanding that Active Life Scientific’s system is the only commercialized analogous cyclic RPI device for bone that is capable of meeting their research requirements.
