The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the Valkyrie VK8 Cameras and Vero v2.2 Cameras with accessories, peripherals and the Vicon Tracker 4.0 software from Vicon Motion Systems, Inc. The motion capture system includes Software and Hardware for real-time tracking of 9 moving drones with high speed and acrobatic motion flying at different heights simultaneously with high frequency and low latency. The tracker needs to provide the exact 6DoF position and rotation of each drone instantaneously and in real time. The systems are to simultaneously track multiple robots, UAVs and UGVs in the Mechanical Engineering lab with a high speed of 500 frames per second. VK8 has a frame rate (fps) of 500 at full resolution and a partial resolution at 2000 fps, and Vero v2.2 has a resolution of 2.2 (2048 x 1088), and a frame rate of 330 at 2.2MP. The two sets of cameras must work together and be synchronized using a single software solution. It is the UCalgary lab’s understanding that Vicon’s motion capture system is the only system with the high-quality cameras has a frame rate (fps) of 500 at full resolution and a partial resolution at 2000 fps that delivers unmatched dynamic accuracy to 0.017mm (mean).
