The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the TecQuipment’s Thermal Power Plant with Steam Engine Trainer and the frame-mounted version of the Versatile Data Acquisitions System (VDAS) from TecQuipment’s authorized Canadian distributor, AYVA Educational Solutions Limited. The equipment is a laboratory-scale steam plant that shows fundamental thermodynamic principles of energy conversion and mechanical power measurement. It is designed to withstand long term, heavy laboratory uses and come with a 5-year warranty. The UCalgary Mechanical Engineering Department currently has the TecQuipment software and VDAS units on site and requires the new equipment to ensure compatibility with the existing products while minimizing the learning curve for adopting the new equipment. To UCalgary’s knowledge, the TecQuipment Thermal Power Plant with Steam Engine trainer is the only equipment capable of delivering a high wattage output unit (above 30 watts) while also offering Data Acquisition (DAQ) compatibility.
