The University of Calgary (UCalgary) intends to purchase the Windshaper, including WindControl Software from Tyto Robotics. The UCalgary Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Department requires a fully customizable wind tunnel, offering extensive possibilities for free-flight testing, to support research and training activities. The Windshaper is a wind tunnel alternative used for testing full size drones in various conditions and is controlled with the WindControl software. User has full control over the Windshaper size, shape and accessories. It is specifically designed to study the effects of different wind profiles on motors, propellers, ESCs, batteries, drones and any electric aircraft. Unlike traditional wind tunnels that produce a uniform flow, Windshaper uses 3D input (u=f(x,y,t)) to generate unique flow patterns such as wind shear, turbulence, and time-variable flows. To UCalgary’s knowledge, this is the only wind tunnel that has the ability to create dynamic wind profiles.
