DRDC is currently undertaking efforts to develop a laser system capable of coherently combining laser pulses emitted by an array of laser amplifiers. Optimal brilliance at the system’s output requires precise phase synchronization and superposition of the electric field of individual laser pulses. This endeavour can only be achieved with high bandwidth lock-in amplifiers.
