Landscape Architecture - Restoration of Place George V, Quebec City (Quebec)
DESCRIPTION
Following a fire in 2008, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) rebuilt the Voltigeurs de Québec Armoury (https://www.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca/biens-property/manege-a…) into a building combining heritage and modernity. Place George V is closely linked to the Armoury, as recognized under the various heritage designations attributed to the Armoury.
Before the Armoury burned down, this public space was mainly used by National Defense as a place of commemoration and for the holding of military protocol activities. In addition to providing a space for commemoration, it now offers a public space for holding major events and festivals in which many citizens and tourists participate each year.
The restoration of this public space will better reconcile the use of Place George V for major events and its military commemorative vocation.
This project is the last step allowing the full development of the Quebec City Armory National Historic Site, after the reconstruction of the Armory in 2018.
The restoration concept provides for the development of a commemoration alley, a service area suitable for holding events, the addition of various equipment to improve the comfort and use of this place. In line with the Green Government Strategy, the programming includes planning measures that adapt to urban conditions and contribute to climate resilience.
With this request for proposal, PWGSC wishes to call on a multidisciplinary team (landscape architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering and lighting design specialist) to develop the concept and prepare construction drawings and specifications. Please refer to the Project Brief for the scope of services requested.
