Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) – Energy Technology Sector has a requirement for a C5+ Hydrocarbon Delivery System. This system will control the flow rate of and evaporate C5+ hydrocarbons. As shown in Figure A1, the hydrocarbons will be stored in liquid form in pressurized vessels inside a flammable liquid storage cabinet. The required system discussed here in must have the ability to control the flow rate of each species simultaneously and convert them to gaseous form. The required system, outlined in red in Figure A1, has been sketched for demonstration purposes only; the proposed system may be different (e.g., in number of mass flow controllers or evaporators) than shown. The gases from the required system will then be sent in a heated line to a flare header where they will be mixed with several other gaseous hydrocarbons (C1-C4) and inserts before being burned in a lab scale flare.
