Later this fall networking vendors will be invited by Shared Services Canada (SSC) Procurement and Vendor Relations (PVR) to propose Local Area Network (LAN) and management network switching solutions to meet Networks Security and Digital Services (NSDS) operational needs.
These LAN solutions will be deployed primarily in GCworkplace fit-ups in the National Capital Region (NCR) to create modern Activity-based workplaces (ABWs) where a high performing workforce can embrace new ways of working to serve Canada’s evolving needs. NSDS will leverage a number of open and forward looking standards such as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.1AE, IEEE 802.3bt and IEEE 802.3bz in its technical requirements.
The first upcoming openly competed Request for Quotation (RFQ) will include several GCworkplace sites in the NCR along with some management network switches. They are:
Multi-floor ABW fit-up based on the latest GCworkplace standards at 400 Cooper Street in Ottawa.
Single-floor ABW fit-up based on the latest GCworkplace standards at 950 Ages Drive in Ottawa.
A second RFQ to establish an inventory of LAN equipment and management switches will launch before fiscal year-end. This equipment will be used to meet real property fit-ups in the NCR quickly and efficiently. The competed inventory will support improved service delivery for a number of upcoming GCworkplace initiatives.
