1. Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN)

An ACAN is a public notice indicating to the supplier community that a department or agency intends to award a contract for goods, services or construction to a pre-identified supplier, thereby allowing other suppliers to signal their interest in bidding, by submitting a statement of capabilities. If no supplier submits a statement of capabilities that meets the requirements set out in the ACAN, on or before the closing date stated in the ACAN, the contracting officer may then proceed with the award to the pre-identified supplier.

2. Definition of the requirement

Department of National Defence (DND) Aerospace and Telecommunication Engineering Support Squadron (ATESS) based out of 8 Wing Trenton, Ontario has a requirement for the supply, delivery, installation, and on-site training for one (1), Hexagon 6 Axis Absolute ROMER Arm (Model 8340-6) system.

An optional Hexagon 6 Axis Absolute ROMER Arm (Model 8340-6) system may be procured within 24 months of contract award.

Background:

DND - ATESS provides a wide variety of manufacturing capability and capacity of aircraft parts to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). As the Royal Canadian Armed Forces (RCAF) has a limited amount of certain types of aircraft, the ability to manufacture parts in-house is critical to maintain the RCAF current flight operations. In order to maintain its current level of aircraft parts manufacturing / capability in the support of the RCAF, ATESS requires a new 6 Axis Absolute ROMER Arm that must be fully compatible and integrate with the current array of existing Hexagon 6 Axis Absolute Arm (Model 7335) as having two different romer arm measuring systems could lead to catastrophic results.
