To supply a Loligo SY21330 medium respirometer chamber system (8 x 72mm horizontal, 110V, 60Hz) for oxygen consumption measurements for Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Winnipeg, MB., complete with 8 medium chambers (45mm horizontal), 8 medium chambers (45mm vertical) and 8 medium chambers (72mm vertical). Delivery is requested by January 31, 2020.
Sole Source Justification:
The Loligo SY21330 system is a fully integrated respirometry system that allows for the measurement of oxygen consumption for 8 individual organisms simultaneously. The Loligo system is unique as it allows control for two pumps per one chamber in order to reproduce an intermittent flow design. This means that one pump circulates water throughout the chamber, while the other pump moves water in and out of the chamber. This allows to quantify many declining oxygen consumption curves over time, calculations that are performed by the proprietary Loligo software (AutoResp). It is the combination of multi-channel respirometers (8), integral pump control and data acquisition software that makes this product unique. DFO (Central, Arctic and Quebec) exclusively uses Loligo equipment for their research. Having the same system will allow DFO to compare results with data from the other DFO locations which also work on shrimp ecophysiology.
