CILAS 990L Particle Size Analyzer
Environment Canada, Burlington, Ontario has a requirement for a
CILAS, Orleans, France, Model 990L particle size analyzer with
particle shape analysis for use in on going research activities
of the department. The analyzer must incorporate particle
sampling, laser particle sizing, image analysis and data
management in its operation. This is a NO SUBSTITUTE
requirement.
Environment Canada currently has a CILAS 910 analyzer that they
have been transferring from a stand alone laboratory
configuration for the processing of particle size distributions
and shape, to experimental flume installations for real-time
collection of data during experimental runs when needed. Such
movement of the existing instrument is cumbersome and requires
considerable effort and time to facilitate the transfer.
Environment Canada is purchasing a new analyzer to be
permanently installed on the flume within Environment Canada's
hydraulics laboratory.
It is for compatibly reasons that the CILAS 990L (the latest
version of the 910) is being specified with no substitute. It is
scientifically critical for analytical consistency that the two
particle sizers work on the same principals using similar
sampling and data processing techniques and have mechanical
operations (pumping, stirring, sonication, and imaging) that are
identical. Failure to have this compatibility would result in
significant quality assurance and quality control questions when
providing data into nationally relevant data bases. The new
analyzer will be installed on the existing flume which has been
configured for the CILAS 910, therefore it is essential that the
new analyzer have the same configuration and foot print.
The Bidder must submit, with their bid, documentation
demonstrating that they are an authorized dealer of the
manufacturer, CILAS, Orleans, France and are authorized to sell
in Canada.
