The City of Beaumont’s aquatic facilities require a reliable supply of pool chemicals, maintenance parts, and related supplies. To ensure continuity of operations, the City intends to enter into a three-year sole source contract with Automated Aquatics, the sole authorized distributor in Alberta for the Acid Rite® pH Adjustment System, WAPO®TEC Filtration/Oxidation Enhancement System, and AutoPilot Systems.
The rationale for this sole source is that the City’s pools operate using these specialized systems, which rely on proprietary parts and chemicals. Transitioning to alternative products or suppliers would present significant financial and operational barriers, including system incompatibility, increased maintenance costs, and risks to service continuity.
