Full description

The City of Calgary is developing rapidly. To support this development, critical infrastructure is required to provide Calgarians with lifesaving emergency services. Temporary fire stations play a critical role in ensuring timely emergency services for growing communities, bridging the gap until permanent fire stations are established.

Through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process, the City of Calgary invites qualified Construction Management (CM) bidders who are looking to have a positive impact on the health and safety of our growing City.

Yorkville is experiencing rapid population growth and development, creating an urgent need for municipal infrastructure and timely emergency services. To address this, the City has identified a 0.68-hectare (1.68 acres) parcel at Yorkville Way SW and Yorklyn Manor SW as the proposed site for a permanent two-bay emergency response station. To bridge the service gap until the permanent station becomes fully operational, a temporary station will be required. Once the temporary station is no longer needed and removed, the intent is to prepare the site to enable future housing opportunities in alignment with the City’s long-term plans. Please note that current project scope does not include the design or construction of housing. The current project has two (2) primary objectives:

1. The primary objective is the timely delivery of the Yorkville Permanent Fire Station - a fully operational two-bay emergency response station that meets the City’s performance, operational, regulatory, and budget requirements, with an estimated building area of approximately 1,400 square metres (15,000 square feet). The permanent station is anticipated to be operational in February 2029.

2. In parallel, to meet the service needs of Calgary Fire Department prior to the completion of the permanent station, the Yorkville Temporary Fire Station is intended to ensure interim service delivery. As part of an ongoing feasibility assessment for a temporary emergency response station, the City is identifying potential temporary service delivery scenarios for construction. The temporary station is anticipated to be operational by October of 2027.

Project Location:

Project Scope:
