The Government of Alberta’s current in-house news-clipping services do not have the capability to monitor or analyze multilingual and ethno-cultural media outlets, creating a critical information gap for Communications and Public Engagement (CPE). As Alberta’s population becomes increasingly diverse, the Premier’s office and government ministries expect timely, accurate insight into how government policies, programs, and announcements are being covered across multicultural media markets—insight that CPE cannot presently access using existing tools or internal capacity.
To meet these expectations, CPE requires a specialized contractor with the technical expertise, national reach, and language capabilities necessary to provide comprehensive multilingual media scanning. This service will supply government with real-time, national-level visibility into multicultural media coverage, enabling better issues management, informed decision-making, and proactive engagement with diverse communities. Without this contracted service, CPE is unable to fulfill its mandate to provide complete media intelligence to the Premier’s office and government ministries.
