Canmet MATERIALS (CMAT), a branch of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), conducts research and development activities on materials for transportation, pipelines, power generation and defense applications. As part of the facility, CMAT operates a full pledged chemical analysis lab capable of analysing composition of various metals and alloys. One of the major equipment in this lab is Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES).
CMAT procured a new OES laboratory equipment through a competitive process from Thermo Fisher Scientific in March 2018. The equipment was supplied with a two-year warranty for the parts and service, including a one year extended warranty. The current request is to procure an extended warranty for service and breakdown assistance for an additional five-year period.
