The work under this contract consists of phased demolition and
new construction including, but not limited to, the work
associated with the phased demolition of the existing Penhallow
Building, new site services, new landscaping and new electrical
and communication services.
The work site is located at the St. Andrews Biological Station,
St. Andrews, Charlotte County, New Brunswick. All work is to be
performed in accordance with the Plans and Specifications No.
R.000067.0011.

There will be an optional site visit on March 7, 2012 at 13:00
hours. All interested bidders are to meet at the main entrance
of the Penhallow Building, St. Andrews, New Brunswick. Although
not mandatory, all contractors wishing to submit a tender for
this work are encouraged to attend to become familiar with all
aspects of the work.

A public bid opening will be held at the Bid Receiving Unit,
Room 421, 189 Prince William Street, Saint John, N.B.

Work to be completed within thirty-five (35) weeks after
contract award.

The estimated cost for this opportunity is within the following
category: $1,500,001 - $2,000,000 (HST extra).

Inquiries are to be made in writing and should be received no
less than five (5) calendar days prior to the closing date to
allow sufficient time to respond.

Standard bid and contract security for construction is required.

Pursuant to GC6 - Delays and Changes in Work of the General
Conditions, the resulting construction contract will include the
provisions for changes in the work at the request of the
Departmental Representative.

Firms intending to submit tenders on this project should obtain
tender documents through the MERX services provider. Addenda,
when issued, will be available from the MERX provider. Firms
that elect to base their bids on tender documents obtained from
other sources do so at their own risk and will be solely
responsible to inform the tender calling authority of their
intention to bid.

Standard terms and conditions for this procurement are
incorporated by reference, and form part of the tender and
contract documents. The standard documents are issued by Public
Works and Government Services and may be viewed on the MERX
electronic bulletin board as part of the information module.
