Equipment Requirements
All equipment delivered must:
a. Be commercial grade new equipment in operational condition and in original packaging;
b. Support climbing for one combat outfitted operator defined at 120 kg (265 lbs) with 15 kg (33 lbs) of person carry kit for a total load of 135 kg (298 lb) up to full extension of nineteen feet plus or minus one foot (19' +/- 1') at nominal operational load angles to the ground of not less than 70°;
c. Collapse as a single unit into a single person carry profile with dimensions not exceeding 762mm height x 508mm width x 127mm depth (30" x 20" x 5");
d. Comprise a carry weight not to exceed 9 kg (19.8 lbs);
e. Support unhanded secure carriage by a single operator that does not impede motion and activity including adopting firing positions;
f. Support deployment and recovery by a single untrained operator from carry configuration to fully locked full extension and return to carry configuration without tools within 30 seconds;
g. Support utilization at any length by rung separation to maximum extension;
h. Include all connectors as attached and integral components;
1. Support transport as freight without a hard shell case sustaining vibration as identified at MIL-STD-81OG, Test Method Standard for Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests, Method 514.4 Category 8, Vibration for the Ground Mobile Environment;
j. Support carriage by a qualified operator through completion of a tactical obstacle course;
I. Include feet that grip on hard surfaces including finished concrete without slippage when erected at nominal operational load angles;
m. Resist deterioration with environmental exposure to various common contaminants including and not limited to:
i. Salt water;
ii. Gun oil,
iii. Motor vehicle fuels, and
iv. Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants.
n. Support a usage of not less than 500 uses without catastrophic failure exclusive of battle damage;
o. Incorporate subdued colours with no reflective surfaces;
p. Include a strength safety factor equal to the mission load as a factor of two (2) to compensate for dynamic load;
q. Provide enhanced reliability and robustness through incorporation of proven higher quality performance production materials;
r. Provide enhanced survivability through protection against abrasion and collateral damage to all components;
s. Support full operation while wearing gloves;
t. Support operation in all temperature ranges in which an operator functions, nominally from - 32° C to +49° C in any Basic and Hot climatic design type identified at MIL-STD-81OG, Test Method Standard for Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests, Appendix C, Table C-1, Summary of Climatic Conditions excluding extreme weather; and
u. Support loading onto any transport aircraft without restriction.
