The Sir Frederick Banting Research Centre, occupied by Health Canada and located at 251 Sir Frederick Banting Driveway in the Tunney’s Pasture complex, was constructed in 1978. It is a 4-storey laboratory and office building divided into three blocks consisting of two, 4-storey sections connected in the middle with a 2 storey communal area. The roof is being considered for renewal to address ongoing leaks into the 4th Floor Lab Wing area which is currently under renovations as part of the Sir Frederick Banting Research Centre (SFBRC) Laboratory Conversion Project. This project comprises of renovating the 3rd and 4th Floor of the Animal Wing to house laboratories and support services in order to better accommodate the diagnostic analysis performed by the staff of the Environmental Health, Service and Research Bureau (EHSRB). The construction phase of this project must be finalized by end of September 30, 2014. The Contractor will take into account the fact the facility will be continuously occupied by the contractor renovating the 3rd and 4th Floor and Health Canada staff during construction work.
Mandatory Criteria
M1. Bidders, or their authorized representative(s) must attend a site visit scheduled at the Sir Frederick Banting Building, 251 Sir Frederick Banting Driveway, Tunney’s Pasture, Ottawa, ON K1A 0K9 on July 24th at 10:00 am.
M2. The Firm . The Bidder must have proven experience (within the past 5 years) in completing a minimum of two projects of a similar nature, size, scale and complexity to the requirement of the Sir Frederick Banting Building, Animal Wing Roof Replacement Project (described in this RFP).
Two references are required and the Bidder should include the following information:
a) Name, organization, phone number and email (if available) address of client.
b) Start and end date of each project.
c) Description of the services provided.
d) Location of where the services were provided.
M3. The Bidder must have insurance that covers the installation of two-ply roofing membranes.
