The Communications Research Centre (CRC), a branch of the Spectrum and Telecommunications Sector (STS), Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), has a requirement for a contract to obtain data regarding broadband addressable locations in rural and remote areas.
The Spectrum and Telecom Sector (STS), Connecting Canadians Branch (CCB) requires mapping data for rural areas of Canada showing with higher precision and accuracy the exact location of rural homes. This data is needed for more accurate planning, execution, monitoring and reporting on GoC broadband programs, including the recently launched Universal Broadband Fund (UBF). In addition, the same data will be used by the Communications Research Center (CRC) in its research to develop novel approaches for improved use of radio spectrum, based on data analytics and data science.
CRC is seeking to establish a contract to build a proof-of-concept to identify the building footprints for broadband addressable locations in two test locations in Canada. For the purposes of this document, broadband addressable locations are buildings at which a person or company may wish to establish broadband internet access.
