Annually, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) enumerates and samples runs of Chinook, sockeye, and coho salmon in the Stikine River, British Columbia. The data collected is used for both short-term and long-term evaluation and decision making. In-season, DFO biologists use the data to determine run status and provide information to fishery managers to assist them in their management of sustainable Commercial, Recreational and First Nation fisheries. Data collected may be used for post-season run reconstructions and may form part of long standing data sets used for future analysis.
