This contract involves identification and assessment of hazards in order to complete a visitor activity risk assessment and define an appropriate level of service required to complete a Visitor Safety Plan and meet program liability responsibilities. It will also require completion of General Hazard Assessment and Visitor Activity Risk Assessment following guidelines provided by Parks Canada. Torngat Mountains National Park requires an individual with extensive and specific expertise and experience in studying, assessing, and evaluating risk in remote northern park environments that include technical mountainous terrain, extreme weather and terrain conditions, a northern marine and terrestrial environment, and challenging access and wildlife issues. The contractor chosen has experience identifying and implementing appropriate risk control measures and is familiar with the Torngat Mountains and with Parks Canada. The contract must also be done in as timely a manner as possible without requiring an orientation trip to the Torngat Mountains. The person we would like to contract meets all the above requirements and has spent time in the Torngat Mountains in order to prepare the Risk Assessment for the Torngat Mountains National Park.
