The Gull Lake Water and Wastewater Regional Feasibility Study is a regional planning initiative managed by Lacombe County in partnership with the Town of Bentley, the Summer Village of Gull Lake, Ponoka County, and the Summer Village of Parkland Beach.
The project will explore a regional opportunity by investigating the technical and financial feasibility of creating unified, multi-jurisdictional water and wastewater transmission and collection systems.
The Project is driven by environmental protection and lake water quality concerns, along with a number of infrastructure challenges. The Summer Villages and a number of residential communities within Lacombe and Ponoka Counties lack municipal water and wastewater services; the Town of Bentley systems face critical capacity limits within two decades based on a detailed servicing study undertaken in 2022. The long-term vision is to establish reliable, high-capacity utility services by sourcing treated potable water and providing wastewater treatment on a regional basis.
