The programmer / analysts will assist Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) in its support of the on-going development and applications of the department’s air quality forecast model (a.k.a., GEM-MAC. The model is a software package comprised of mathematical representations of the relevant dynamic, physical, and chemical processes that characterize the atmosphere. The model quantitatively links pollutant emissions to ambient concentrations of air pollutants in space and time and is used for scientific research and operations (e.g., forecasting the air quality health index). Chemical data assimilation consists of intermittently incorporating information from measurements to the model initial conditions for improving model forecasts. Air quality analysis is conducted using measurements, model forecasts and or chemical data assimilation. H) , chemical data assimilation system(s), air quality analysis, and tools to support them.
