This project involves the renovation of two (2) Picnic Shelters (Red Tailed Hawk & Grey Goose) located in Elk Island National Park. Both structures are of similar construction, with the frame composed of heavy timber members bolted together.
The work will consist of the following tasks:
- Removal of the existing cedar shake roof, and replacement with a metal roof, including required flashings on both shelters.
- Replacement of nine (9) timber roof beams. (5 at Red Tailed Hawk, 4 at Grey Goose)
- Repair of one (1) timber column at Red Tailed Hawk.
- Provision of temporary support to structure for removal & replacement of beams and repair of column as required.
- Installation of additional tongue & groove wood roof deck between existing eave and end of roof beams on both shelters.
- Removal (as required) and replacement of fifteen (15) wood spacer blocks with poured concrete in-fills. (9 at Red Tailed Hawk, 6 at Grey Goose)
- Installation of new gutters and eaves trough on both shelters.
All materials and labour are to be supplied by the Contractor.
The Contractor shall perform and complete on or before September 01, 2014.
