Grande Cache is located on Highway 40 North. The town is 440 km
northwest of Edmonton and 140 km north of Hinton, and 180 km
south of Grande Prairie. Grande Cache Institution is immediately
adjacent to the town. This Institution was constructed nearly
25-30 years ago. Grande Cache Institution (GCI) is a Medium
Security Institution for Federally sentenced people. GCI
requires a new "ware washing " area to meet its changing needs
and to correct anomalies identified by CSC through a ware
washing review. The goal of the project is to reconfigure the
dishwashing area, (Room E-120) by removing existing dishwashing
and pot washing equipment, complete with associated power,
water, venting, drainage, HVAC systems and accessories: and
replacing with new equipment, as required.
A "temporary rental trailer", completely fitted and ready for
washing pots, pans, utensils and dishes, will need to be
supplied and installed while demolition and construction is
taking place in the kitchen area. This temporary rented trailer
will be made part of the construction contract for the
contractor to supply, install hook up all necessary utilities,
and remove when no longer needed.
New equipment is to be installed and tied in, to new utility
services opposite the existing layout. New equipment supplied
and installed by construction contractor.
Existing power, water, venting, drainage, HVAC systems and
lighting, will need to be reconfigured. A portion of the
concrete floor will need to be demolished; utilities rerouted;
concrete floor repaired; and a durable non-slip specified
finished will need to be applied. Existing ceiling will need to
be demolished and reconstructed to meet new systems
configuration.
NOTICE - OPTIONAL SITE VISIT
It is recommended that the Bidder or a representative of the
Bidder visit the work site. Arrangements have been made for a
tour of the work site.
There will be a site visit on January 9, 2014 at 10:30 am.
Interested bidders are to meet at the Grand Cache Institution,
located in Grande Cache, AB.
Personal protective equipment such as hard hats and steel toe
boots will not be required.
