NOTICE OF PROPOSED PROCUREMENT (NPP)
Title:
One-on-one Introductory and Group Media Awareness Training Sessions
Background:
Health Canada (HC) is the federal department responsible for helping the people of Canada maintain and improve their health. HC is committed to improving the lives of Canada's people and to making this country's population among the healthiest in the world as measured by longevity, lifestyle and effective use of the public health care system.
As respected members of the health and scientific communities making an important contribution to the health of Canadians, HC employees are often called upon to share their knowledge and insights with the media. Communicating information successfully to the media requires a well-prepared strategy and an understanding of what the media expect. Understanding how to work with the media has become a critical skill for subject matter experts within government agencies, yet many of these officials have little or no experience with the media.
HC requires the service of professionals to better prepare its officials to effectively work with and provide information to the media. Training is needed to assist subject matter experts, potentially designated as official departmental spokespersons, to understand how the media works, what drives the industry, and how to communicate effectively with print, radio, and broadcast reporters.
Scope:
To provide introductory one-on-one media awareness and training services (half-day – 4.0 hours) tailored to each participant's relevant issues and in his or her language of choice; and
To provide introductory, group-focused (2 to 12 participants) media awareness and training services (one day - 7.5 hours).
