Title:
Security of supply considerations related to Additive
Manufacturing technologies

Background:
Additive manufacturing (AM) is a collection of technologies in
which items are made via continuous addition or consolidation of
raw materials, as opposed to the traditional "subtractive"
manufacturing approach in which appropriately sized quantities
of raw materials are machined into the desired final shape and
size. AM technologies have been identified as a potential means
to improve the supply of components to operational platforms
through depot or operational front manufacture. The potential
adoption of such technologies however is somewhat dependent on
ensuring a secure supply of both the raw materials and
instrument components necessary to operate the AM equipment.

Thermal consolidation AM technologies can be considered as any
technology or equipment that produces or repairs metallic
components via a thermal process, such as, but not limited to
laser, electron beam or plasma approaches.

Requirement:
DRDC Atlantic, Dockyard Lab Pacific, has a requirement for a
report outlining current available thermal consolidation
Additive Manufacturing technologies, complete with information
on raw material, feedstock and component suppliers necessary to
adopt those technologies.

The solicitation document contains complete details on the
requirement and the bid evaluation and contractor selection
methodology.

Time Schedule:
To begin upon contract award for completion within 90 days of
award.

Funding:
The maximum funding available for the Contract resulting from
the bid solicitation is $25,000 + applicable taxes.

English.
