A visitor shuttle service has been in operation at Point Pelee National Park of Canada (PPNP) since 1971. The Point Pelee Shuttle consists of two drive units, and 3 wagon units. Each drive unit has capacity for 12passengers and two wheelchairs. Each wagon unit has capacity for 28 passengers. The units are driven in different configuration, depending on the demand, ranging from drive units alone to drive units with as many as 3 wagons attached. The service takes visitors from the PPNP’s Visitor Center to the Tip Exhibit Area along the main park road during the spring, summer and fall seasons. The shuttle run is a 4 km circuit continuously according to a shuttle operation schedule. Shuttle hours vary during the season and the number of daily return trips varies by month. In most years, this shuttle service transports about 130,000 visitors annually.
