Description of Work:
The Tax Court of Canada is a superior court that was established in 1983. It is independent from all departments of the Government of Canada, and in particular from the Canada Revenue Agency. Individuals, either self-represented or represented by counsel, and companies may litigate with the Government of Canada. The bulk of the appeals to the Tax Court relate to assessments by the Canada Revenue Agency of income tax, goods and services tax, and employment insurance. The Tax Court also hears references from the Canada Revenue Agency to provide interpretations of the legislation within its areas of jurisdiction.
