Description of the requirement:

1.0 BACKGROUND

Information Management and Technology Directorate (IMTD) within the Corporate Services Branch (CSB) of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is a strategic IM/IT service provider to the Commission.
The Application Services Division (ASD) within IMTD is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of IM/IT solutions to meet the business needs of different areas of the CNSC.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

ASD requires the professional services of a Database Analyst to provide database design and development, database modeling and database conversion in support of IMTD operations.

The tasks to be performed are:

• Install and configure SQL Server Instances and databases.
• Build, convert, test, repair, configure and document the process of all components in the database environment including tables, indexes, views, triggers and stored procedures.
• Work very closely with the team members in order to maintain and safeguard the database.
• Develop and implement procedures that will ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data stored in the database.
• Identify requirements for improvements to existing databases by determining users' information requirements and system performance and functional requirements.
• Ensure data consistency with IMTD data model standards and best practices.
• Advise programmers, analysts, and partners about the efficient use of data.
• Maintain configuration control of the databases.
• Analyse and tune databases for optimal efficiency.
• Provide database support and advice to the developers.
• Perform and/or coordinate updates to the database design.
• Develop and implement security procedures for the database, including access and user account management.
• Ability to work beyond the normal working hours, including evenings and weekends as and when required on approval from Project Authority.

3.0 TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT

• Microsoft SQL Server 2008;
• Sybase ASE 15;
• Microsoft VB.NET and c# 3.5 web applications;
• Cold Fusion version 6 to 10 applications;
• PowerBuilder version 8 applications;
• Windows 2008 servers;
• Microsoft Office 2003 and 2010

4.0 DELIVERABLES

• Database analysis, model and conversion documentation for solutions.
• Database model and conversion implementation for solutions.

Proposed period of contract:

The proposed period of contract shall be from approximately April 21, 2014 for 140 days, plus two 80-day options.
