Spécialiste technique – Activités règlementaires de la CCSN

Throughout their career, technical specialists at the CNSC obtain a wealth of knowledge regarding a nuclear power plant’s design, operation, and behaviour during an accident as well as the various regulatory standards and requirements (both Canadian and international) that the design and operational procedures must meet. This knowledge allows technical specialists to effectively provide a basis for licensing nuclear power plants and ensure their safe operation, activities that are critical to the CNSC’s mandate.

When these experts retire or leave the CNSC, the knowledge they possess regarding Canadian nuclear installations leaves with them. Therefore, it is proposed that this important understanding of the workings and regulation of nuclear power plants be documented in a clear and concise format so that future regulatory personnel can access it and make use of it to perform their duties. This way, knowledge gained by staff members who have left or have retired from the CNSC will be transferred to current CNSC staff.
