As the responsible technical authority for IM/IT systems at the Mapping & Charting Establishment (MCE), the MCE Engineering section comprises a small team of full time computer support specialists who provide IM/IT services to the system development, in-service support and life cycle management functions. This involves the provision of IT support services to all MCE specialized geospatial systems, server rooms and networks. A number of new projects that have been recently initiated have resulted in an increase in to the normal IM/IT support requirements that are now exceeding in-house capacity. MCE therefore requires two contracted resource to increase in-house IM/IT support capacity.
The Contractor will be providing system administrator and IM/IT support services to MCE LAN and stand-alone MCE systems. The work will include supporting all aspects of MCE systems hardware, software, networking, storage infrastructure, software installation, setup, configuration, optimization, testing and troubleshooting. The tasks include the following but not limited to;
Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain operating systems;
Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain hardware and software;
Collaborate with project managers, developers, other system administrators and clients to maintain and improve hardware and software performance;
Apply problem solving skills to emulating or reproduce technical problems encountered by end-users in order to solve technical problems;
Ensure timely and reliable system administrator procedures such as virtual machine and data replication as well as backups; and
Analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
Installing, configuring, monitoring, upgrading and maintaining GIS, image processing, database and data management software applications including; VMWare 5.5, ArcGIS Server Ver 10.x, ArcGIS Desktop Ver 10.x., MS Server 2012, MS SQL Server 2012;
Installation and configuration of Cisco routers and switches; and
Establishing virtual server hardware architectures and producing technical build documents.
