Nature of Procurement: To contract with Diesel Tech Industries Ltd. to retrofit two vehicles with the Guardian Hydrogen Diesel System. The pilot project objectives are to: demonstrate a methanol-to-hydrogen fueling system for early transition to hydrogen use; and collect and analyze operational data (including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions) for hydrogen dual-fuel and fuel cell vehicles to identify viable zero-emission vehicle adoption pathways for municipal non-transit heavy-duty vehicles.
Justification: DTI is the only supplier in the area that possesses integrated hardware and software as it aligns with onboard systems on heavy duty vehicles. DTI possess the experience and the ability to effectively integrate their systems with OEM power plants. Sturgeon County has been working with Diesel Tech Industries (DTI) since August 2023 to collect data and to monitor engine performance of two gravel trucks as part of an analysis to determine the implications of converting vehicles to run on a blend of hydrogen and diesel fuel.
