1. Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN)
An ACAN is a public notice indicating to the supplier community that a department or agency intends to award a contract for goods, services or construction to a pre-identified supplier, thereby allowing other suppliers to signal their interest in bidding, by submitting a statement of capabilities. If no supplier submits a statement of capabilities that meets the requirements set out in the ACAN, on or before the closing date stated in the ACAN, the contracting officer may then proceed with the award to the pre-identified supplier.
2. Definition of the requirement
The requirement for the Ceremonial Gun Race System is to procure qty six (6) retired Canadian

Due to the nature of and the history of the Ceremonial Gun Race the Royal Canadian Artillery would like to procure retired Canadian Artillery pieces to honor the history and tradition of the use of the L5 Pack Howitzer by the Canadian Armed Forces.

6. Justification for the Pre-Identified Supplier
The original Canadian Armed Forces L5 Pack howitzers were demilitarized and given to museum and CF units for display and as such would not be in any condition to safely perform the Ceremonial Gun Race.
