1. ADVANCE CONTRACT AWARD NOTICE (ACAN)
An ACAN is a public notice indicating to the supplier community that a department or agency intends to award a contract for goods, services or construction to a pre-identified supplier, thereby allowing other suppliers to signal their interest in bidding, by submitting a statement of capabilities. If no supplier submits a statement of capabilities that meets the requirements set out in the ACAN, on or before the closing date stated in the ACAN, the contracting officer may then proceed with the award to the pre-identified supplier.
2. DEFINITION OF THE REQUIREMENT
The National Hydrology Research Centre, Saskatoon of Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) requires "Precellys Evolution Super Homogenizer" with high sample capacity (up to 24 samples at one time ), flexibility of sample size tubes for various tissues/organisms (0.3mL in well-plate format, 0.5, 2, 7 and 15mL size tubes), and an integrated Cryolys evolution unit for complete control of the temperature for all tube sizes between 0 °C and 4 °C during sample grinding to prevent DNA, RNA & protein degradation of thermosensitive molecules.
The said purchase will be used for supporting internal research projects and servicing externalclients.
3. CRITERIA FOR ASSESSMENT OF THE STATEMENT OF CAPABILITIES (MINIMUM ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS)
Any interested supplier must demonstrate by way of a statement of capabilities that its product/equipment/system (as appropriate) meets the following requirements:
1. A tissue homogenizer with integrated sample cooling for all grinding tube sizes identified
1.1 Capability of processing different tube sizes; 0.5, 2, 7, and 15ml and 0.3ml well-plate format
1.2 Can process up to 24 tubes at one time.
2. Cryolys Integrated cooling system.
2.1 Control temperature during samples grinding to prevent DNA, RNA & Protein degradation of thermosensitive molecules
3. Proprietary automatic tube locking system for added safety
3.1 The patented locking vacuum system of the tubes during the process. The Press ’n block system saves time and energy. It makes it easier to handle equipment and secures the tubes before the grinding process. Increased safety.
4.0 Powerful 3D motion, up to 10 000rpm.
4.1 Ensures equal homogenization efficiency for all processed samples (up to 24 at once) to disrupt any type of sample (even the hardest) in seconds with perfect reproducibility while limiting heat generation.
4. APPLICABILITY OF THE TRADE AGREEMENT(S) TO THE PROCUREMENT
The procurement is subject to the following trade agreement.
Canadian free Trade agreement (CFTA).
5. JUSTIFICATION FOR THE PRE-IDENTIFIED SUPPLIER
The National Hydrology Research Centre, Saskatoon of Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) requires Precellys Evolution Super Homogenizer based on bead-beating with high sample capacity (up to 24 samples), flexibility of sample size tubes for various tissues/organisms (0.3mL in well-plate format, 0.5, 2, 7 and 15mL size tubes), and an integrated cooling unit (the Cryolys) for complete control of the temperature during samples grinding to prevent DNA, RNA & protein degradation of thermosensitive molecules. Preservation of thermosensitive molecules (enzymes, DNA/RNA, metabolites) is a key factor when processing samples for the NMR spectrometer. High throughput is also important.
a. ESBE Scientific is the sole licensed provider of Precellys lysing equipment sales in Canada. They are the sole licensed provider of Precellys Evolution Super Homogenizer with the patented cooling capability (the Cryolys) and a micro well plate adapter. This instrument is unique and meets the requirements precisely for processing large batches of samples at a precisely controlled low temperature from 0-4 degrees C.
b. This Precellys homogenizer maintains sample integrity and purity as no moving parts touch the sample. All homogenization occurs within the sample tube. There is no cleaning needed between samples, and up to 24 samples can be processed simultaneously, or up to 96 300uL well plates.
c. When combined with the integrated Cryolys Evolution, the only patented integrated cooling unit, Precellys Evolution offers complete control of the temperature during samples grinding to prevent DNA, RNA & Protein degradation of thermosensitive molecules.
