Nature of Request for Information
Government of Canada (GC) is requesting information regarding Suppliers ability to meet the Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) requirement for Space-Based (SB) passive surveillance in the Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum. The GC acknowledges that suppliers have reached maturity in part of the RF spectrum, specifically surrounding detecting and scrutinizing Automatic Identification System (AIS) signals. Therefore, this Request for Information (RFI) will specifically ask suppliers to distinguish between their SB-AIS and their SB-RF Geolocation (SB-RFG) Data Services (DS).
This document is not a bid solicitation. This RFI will not result in the award of any contract. As a result, potential suppliers of any goods or services described in this RFI should not reserve stock or facilities, nor allocate resources, as a result of any information contained in this RFI. Nor will this RFI result in the creation of any source list.
Furthermore, whether or not any potential supplier responds to this RFI will not preclude that supplier from participating in any future procurement. Also the procurement of any goods or services described in this RFI will not necessarily follow this RFI.
This RFI is simply intended to seek feedback from Suppliers with respect to the questions in section 6 of Annex A - Space-Based Automatic Identification System and Radio Frequency Geolocation - Data Services, and Annex D Requirements.
