Title: Coaxial Laser Cladding Head

National Research Council, Automotive Portfolio Laser Processing
& Surface Modification Group has a requirement for the supply
and delivery of quantity 1, Laser Cladding Head (including
focusing optics) that can be attached to a 4 Kw Trumpf HL4006D
Nd:YAG laser for cladding with powders in both the normal and
horizontal positions. The laser cladding head must be able to
operate continuously from a 0 degree through a 90 degree
position. The laser cladding head will be installed on an ABB
robot and used in coordination with an ABB positioner. The
cladding head should be able to produce deposition efficiencies
of close to 100%. The cladding head must be able to operate in
a CW mode at 4 Kw power rating. The Nd:YAG laser is fiber
delivered with a 600 micron fiber with an LLK_B connector,
therefore the adaptor on the focusing head must be able to
accept this fiber size and connector.

Some of the mandatory technical requirements for the laser
cladding head are:

• Uniform powder delivery that is non-directional
• Replaceable powder nozzles
• Laser focal length between 250 to 350mm
• Cladding head can work in the range of powder feed rates

between 5 to 50 g/min
Bidders must provide a video of the laser head cladding in the 0
through 90 degree position producing an even clad bead. The
video must be provided at the date and time of bid closing.

Delivery is required on or before 31 March 2013 to London,
Ontario.
