The Research, Development and Analytics Directorate (RDAD) requires the services of a Senior Cloud Solutions Architect to work with the Workload Migration team. The Senior Cloud Solutions Architect will deliver on the Workload Migration initiative discovery phase. Currently, ISED has over 200 workloads (applications) hosted on over 600 servers that require modernization. This workload offers several complex services to external and internal users. This complex migration to cloud environment will require technical expertise to assist in planning, analysing and performing application migration to the Cloud.
SCOPE OF WORK / KEY ACTIVITIES
The Cloud Solutions Architect will work with the Research, Development and Analytics Directorate team to analyze workload migration requirements and propose a plan and strategy for migrating applications to the cloud. Duties and deliverables may include but not limited to the following:
Provide options analysis and recommend a migration strategy based on Amazon 6Rs strategy (Retain, Retire, Repurchase, Re-host, Re-platform, Re-factor) ;
Implement proof of concepts that demonstrates that the strategies recommended will work on ISED platform which includes AWS cloud and OpenShift Container Platform.
Drive and use Cloud Native architecture best practices when it comes to develop and deploy applications in the Cloud;
Use ISED best practices and recommendations when it comes to architect and design an application for the Cloud
Use DevOps ISED principals and practices
Use Security by design approach when planning a migration strategy;
Follow ISED application life cycle methodologies, timelines and project plans;
Present application demos to stakeholders as required;
Develop and maintain technical/system documentation;
Contribute to project team meetings and collaborate with the team including the project manager.
Complete and submit, for weekly approval, time sheets by project using the (in-house) Project Tracking System; and
Provide updates/status reporting to project team management as required.
