The Department of National Defence have a requirement for the
purchase of Medeco Cylinders for CFB Kingston, Kingston, Ontario.
No Substitution Justification - Limited Tendering (CAP 74)
For the past 2 years CFB Kingston has been procuring Medeco lock
systems as a base standard in all new buildings being built on
base. The need for more secure access systems is required as a
lot of buildings require better security access than in the past
. With Medeco CFB Kingston will have their own keyway with keys
that can't be reproduced by anyone within a 300 mile radius .
Keys are constantly being cut by outside agencies with copy
after copy producing poor quality keys that don't work . As a
result CFB Kingston are having to change more locks and
cylinders which increases material and labour costs . Using the
Medeco system gives greater control and would reduce having to
retain numerous different key and lock systems in stock .This in
itself would be externally cost efficient for the base .
Security issues are foremost and need to be addressed with a
high quality system. CFB Kingston locksmiths are all certified
for Medeco and are currently servicing the existing areas.
