Background
The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada (“CEOC”), an agent of Parliament, exercises general direction and supervision over the conduct of elections and referendums at the federal level. The CEOC heads the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, commonly known as Elections Canada (EC).
The projections of EC show that there will be greater demand from electors to vote by special ballot.
To cope with the mounting pressure from this unpredictable (and inevitable) volume increase in special ballots and manage the resulting risks, Alternative Voting Methods and Operational Outreach (AVMOO) wishes to optimize its centralized processes so that special ballots can be processed in a timely manner.
AVMOO is currently consolidating its efforts to improve its operational capacity so as to reduce the manual processes to be used for the 43rd general election (GE) in October 2019.
In addition, in the context of strategic planning for future election cycles, AVMOO may pursue streamlining its business processes in view of the 44th GE in October 2023.
