The CFIA needs to proceed with a Cost Benefit Analysis of the regulatory proposal to assist officials in making decisions respecting regulatory options and to assist in demonstrating, through a quantitative analysis of the costs, benefits and distributional impacts, that the Government of Canada is introducing an effective, useful and modern regulation that is necessary to safeguard Canada’s food supply and protect Canada’s environment and plant and animal resource base.
This CBA will be done by contracting for services of an economist to conduct a cost-benefit analysis, including quantifying impacts, costs, benefits and cumulative burden, in accordance with the Government of Canada's Cabinet Directive on Regulatory Management and Treasury Board Secretariat's policies, guidelines, and requirements
