Nature of Requirements:
TITLE: Brain Tissue Simulants

REQUIREMENT:
Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) - Suffield,
Medicine Hat, Alberta, has a requirement for the
characterization of brain tissue including white/grey matter,
cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood under the extreme conditions
involving high strain-rates and possibly near-cavitation
pressures.

The Contract may result in follow on work.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENT:

1. Education: PhD in either mechanical engineering or biomedical
engineering.
2. Experience:
Demonstrated experience/expertise with the biomechanical
characterization of biological materials/simulants, the
numerical modeling of biological materials/simulants.
Experience with and ability to carry out studies of cavitation
in select test materials of biological origin (or biological
simulants).

To qualify a bid will have to consist of no less than 80% of
goods and/or services of Canadian origin.

CONTRACTOR SELECTION:
The contractor will be selected on the basis of the Assessed
Best Value to the Crown taking into account merit and cost
factors.

PERIOD OF CONTRACT:
It is anticipated that any contract will be effective from date
of Contract to March 31, 2016 inclusive.

ESTIMATED FUNDING:
The estimated funding available for the Contract resulting from
the bid solicitation is $240,000.00 CAD, the Goods and Services
Tax or the Harmonized Sales Tax excluded, FOB destination for
goods, customs duties and excise taxes included. This disclosure
does not commit Canada to pay the estimated funding available.
