Transport Canada is soliciting proposals for the provision of services under an agreement to develop, manage and administer the Registrar of Imported Vehicles program. The Registrar of Imported Vehicles (the Registrar) shall ensure that all admissible vehicles of prescribed classes under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act (MVSA), certified to United States (U.S.) safety standards and purchased either at the retail level in the U.S. as well as those prescribed classes of used vehicles from Mexico, that are presented for permanent importation into Canada, comply with applicable Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS). The agreement will also provide an option for the provision of services to include other selected prescribed classes of vehicles imported from specified countries other than the United States and Mexico, should there be legislative changes to the MVSA to that effect.
