The Global Health Research Initiative (GHRI) seeks to commission a consultant with demonstrated skills in evaluation research and writing, to conduct a research and write a background paper on the following topic: “Taking stock of current practice and ways to improve the evaluation of global health research programming”.
The background paper will be based on surveys, interviews, and document review with funding agencies and research grantees. It will take account of the complex nature of health systems research undertaken within and outside of developing countries, and the challenges of evaluating the results of that research and that programming. The paper will be discussed at a workshop with funders and researchers involved in global health research, and will be used in future to inform the development of practical guidelines for evaluating global health research.
