For the supply of a Standard HPLC unit for Agriculture Canada,
Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine in
Winnipeg, Manitoba. HPLC (High Performance Liquid
Chromatography) will allow for the rapid analysis of ginseng
extracts and assist in the selection of germplasm based on
bioactive components. There is a high variability in the
bioactive constituents in ginseng and HPLC analysis of these
components and identification would promote a more targeted
approach in the improvement of North American Ginseng. The
HPLC system will be comprised of a number of components to
include a solvent rack, pump, thermostatted column compartment,
detector, flow cell, manual injection, software and computer
workstation.
The requirement is subject to the provisions of the North
American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and the Agreement on
Internal Trade (AIT)
