The Work generally consists of the replacement of existing floor finishes within the central area of the Union Station Great Hall and VIA Ramp (Ramp-42), together with partial repairs to existing stair treads. The Work includes selective demolition and removal of existing floor finishes, installation of City-supplied marble stone flooring, and installation of new granite inserts at designated stair tread locations. The Work shall be undertaken within an active and operational heritage transportation facility. The Contractor shall protect adjacent existing finishes, heritage elements, public areas, station facilities, and ongoing station operations throughout the Work. The Work shall also include temporary hoarding, barriers, pedestrian protection, dust and debris control, safe access, and other temporary measures necessary to safely execute the Work and maintain continuous public and operational access. The Contractor shall coordinate the Work with the City of Toronto, Union Station stakeholders, and other affected parties as required, and shall plan and sequence the Work to minimize disruption to station operations and the travelling public.
